Under the category of “take yes for an answer,” I have been told to expect a free $50 gas card in the mail.
I just booked a 4-day trip to Savannah for one of those college orientation weekends with my daughter on Expedia.com.
Apparently there was a promotional component that entitled me to the complimentary gasoline.
Now let’s balance this “freebie” with the fact this trip is costing me $1,200 dollars if we don’t eat.
On the other hand, the free gas is a nice perk and one I will certainly use.
And I didn’t have to ask for it.
However, that is not always the case.
This year you definitely should ask about a possible gasoline incentive before booking a room whether you call the hotel directly or make your arrangements online.
The worst that can happen is they’ll say no, but that might just get you the offer of a free breakfast if that is not already thrown in too.
I’ll ask about that one at check-in.
(Don’t forget to watch my report on free gas cards on “Today In New York” this Monday.)
